Summer 2021

Updated: Feb 27, 2023

Happy summer to the Sterling Oaks Farm community! We hope everyone has been staying cool and healthy. It's been a very busy past couple of months at the farm, so this newsletter is packed with exciting news! Keep reading to find out...

Annie (Jason's daughter) saying goodbye to Rex (2018 stallion) before he moved to his new home in Texas.

We said goodbye to Cure For Your Blues (Rex), our 2018 double homozygous stallion by MZ Blues Only and out of MZ My Blue Heaven, at the end of April. He is on to the next chapter of his life in Texas with his new owner Daria of Gemstones Farm - Diamond DM Horses. Rex will be starting his under saddle training soon to eventually be shown in Halter and Western Pleasure. Additionally, he is breeding to a handful of approved mares next spring, so feel free to reach out to us for more information!

Our three 2022 expecting broodmares: Ladys Radical Romance x MZ Blues Only, My Special Invite x VS Total Heartthrob, and MZ Marilyn Zipper x One And Only Asset

Since our last newsletter, we bred our three broodmares for 2022 foals. So far, our breeding season has been going very smoothly! All three mares confirmed in foal on the first attempt, so we are expecting the foals within a week of each other in April! We are incredibly excited for this foal crop as we start to re-establish our presence in the show pen. Invite (middle photo) is currently for sale as a 2-in-1 package with her foal by VS Total Heartthrob. If you, or someone you know, are interested, please reach out!

For sale: SOF Heavens To Betsy (2014 mare)

Speaking of horses for sale, we currently have one additional mare available. SOF Heavens To Betsy is a 15.2 hh 2014 black tobiano mare by MZ Blues Only and out of MZ My Blue Heaven. That's right, she's a full sister to Rex! "Betsy" is an extremely sweet and athletic mare. We are looking forward to finding the perfect home for her. She is going to make someone an excellent forever partner.

Sold: Sensational Sterling (2014 mare)

We are happy to officially announce the sale of Sensational Sterling! "Minnie" is a 16.0 hh 2014 bay tobiano mare by Sensational Moves and out of MZ Solid Sterling. Minnie had been on our "not for sale" and "grandkid" horse list for a long time. She is such a loving mare and beautiful mover. However, after getting started under saddle, we knew that Minnie belonged in the show pen. With our busy schedules, we are not able to offer that life to Minnie at this time. So, she moved to her new home in Washington at Vicki Lindgren Training earlier this week. Congratulations to Evonne on her purchase of Minnie! We know they are going to accomplish great things together.

We love getting updates from all the SOF horse owners out there. It is especially great when we hear from Jennifer and Vicki, the owners of our two 2020 fillies. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, these fillies are particularly meaningful to Sterling Oaks Farm. They are the first foal crop for our continuation of Kathy and Lyle's hard work and involvement in APHA both locally and nationally. SOF KCs Zippin Asset (KC) is named after Kathy Clayton, and SOF Lylas Radical Zip (Lyla) is named after Lyle. Speaking of SOF horse updates, we have lots of fun photos to share!

Abby and Lily (2011 mare) are doing incredible! Lily has been under saddle for about three months, and these two are already hitting the cross country course.Thank you all for your continued support of Sterling Oaks Farm! We are in the process of updating our "Sold Horses" album on our social media accounts. If you own a Sterling Oaks Farm horse, please contact our Marketing and Communications Manager, Naomi Clayton, on Facebook and Instagram (@sterling.oaks.farm) or sterlingoaksfarm@gmail.com as soon as you are able.

Best Wishes!

Naomi, Jason, Brian, and John
